Welcome to Dr Rahul Prasad New Doctor and Practice Principal at Maori Hill Clinic

Kia ora! My name is Dr Rahul Prasad and I am very much looking forward to joining the fantastic Maori Hill team from 14th of August onwards.

I am originally from Fiji but I have been calling Dunedin home for the last almost 18 years. I initially came to Dunedin for university studies and never left. But it did take me at least 5 years to acclimatise! I completed all of my medical training in Dunedin and I am a vocationally registered general practitioner with the Royal New Zealand College of General Practitioners. Apart from my medical degree, I also have a Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry, a Postgraduate Certificate in Women’s Health and I am slowly working my way towards a Postgraduate Diploma in General Practice. Yes, some may call me a nerd but I enjoy the process of teaching and learning.

I really enjoy being a GP and find the relationships that I can develop with my patients are a hugely rewarding aspect of my work. Along with standard general practice, I have a special interest in Skin Cancer Medicine and Surgery, aviation medicine, palliative care and primary care based minor surgery procedures such as vasectomy. Shweta and I have been married for 11 years and we have 2 children: Aryan (8 years old) and Ashreya (6 years old). Recently Shweta bought me a bass guitar and I am trying to figure out how to play that.

I am looking forward to getting to know you and help look after you and your family as part of the Maori Hill Clinic team!
